High-Performance Laser Cutting: Etra’s Technologies and Production Capabilities

Etra’s laser cutting department is engineered to meet the most demanding requirements of advanced metal fabrication. By integrating laser systems for both tube and sheet metal processing, we ensure optimized production workflows, consistent dimensional accuracy, and efficient management of complex projects across a wide range of metal alloys.

Machinery Fleet and Technical Specifications

Our technological infrastructure includes three complementary laser stations, designed to maximize production output and geometric versatility:

3D and 2D Tube Laser Systems

We operate dedicated technologies for processing profiles and tubular sections (round, square, rectangular, and custom geometries), enabling the elimination of intermediate steps such as mechanical cutting, milling, and drilling.

  • 3D Tube Laser: Enables angled cuts, bevels for welding preparation, and complex joints on thick profiles or irregular geometries.
  • 2D Tube Laser: Optimized for high-speed processing of standard profiles, ensuring maximum repeatability and reduced cycle times.

Sheet Metal Laser Cutting with Automated Tower System

For flat sheet processing, Etra uses a laser cutting system for sheet metal supported by an integrated automatic tower storage system for loading and unloading. This configuration enables:

  • Processing of sheet metal up to 15 mm thickness in mild steel and up to 10 mm in stainless steel.
  • Continuous production cycles with autonomous sheet storage management.
  • High productivity on large batch runs with reduced setup times.
  • Optimized nesting for maximum material yield and reduced lead times.

Processing Range and Materials

We process a selected range of metals and alloys, ensuring clean, precise cut edges that are essential for subsequent operations such as assembly, welding, or surface finishing.

  • Carbon Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminium and Alloys

Precision and Operational Advantages

The integration of Etra’s laser systems into the production workflow delivers outstanding quality standards, ready for the most demanding industrial applications:

  • Dimensional Tolerances: accuracy guaranteed within one tenth of a millimetre, meeting the specifications of even the most stringent technical drawings.
  • Edge Quality: a significant reduction of burrs and dross, with a surface finish that often eliminates the need for post-cut deburring or grinding.
  • Cost Efficiency on Thin Materials: high execution speeds enable optimization of cost per processed unit while maintaining consistently high quality standards.
  • Prototyping and Batch Flexibility: integrated CAD/CAM file management allows a rapid transition from design to production, both for prototyping and serial manufacturing runs.
