AQUA: Shaping metal through Friuli’s rivers

For two decades, Etra has shaped metal with heat and flame: cutting, welding, and polishing tubing and sheet metal. With AQUA, water takes form in metal for the first time. This line of coffee tables, bases, and furnishing accessories brings the fluid curves, funnels, cylinders, and ripples of our local rivers into modern living and working spaces.

Rivers shaping metal

AQUA is rooted in Friuli Venezia Giulia, drawing inspiration from the Pordenone territory: the emerald waters of the Arzino creek, the soft meanders of the Meduna, and the trails carved by the Tagliamento among the stones. They are rivers that conceptually sculpt metal and forge its shapes: wave upon wave, bend upon bend.

From the WAVE wall module, subtly echoing the rivers defining the territory, to the GIUNCO base, standing above the water like a thicket of reeds or a group of tree trunks. Introducing the new NAMU coat hanger, slim and sinuous like a sapling, and the PLUVIA umbrella holder, rising from the earth like a majestic shell. The TIVOLI planter adopts the design of iconic Baroque fountains, while the HOLM coffee table, featuring an elongated shape and slender base, brings to mind the small islands that emerge in the middle of river currents.

The photos and videos of the new collection—which will be revealed at SICAM 2026—were captured among the crystal-clear waters of the Arzino river, capturing the essence of the water shaping the land and landscape.

Inspired by natural forces

The same narrative inspires the SCIARA coffee tables featuring lava stone tops, as well as the new iteration of the NYM 3.0 model: a homage to the unyielding strength of nature and a second parallel between flowing elements that mould and alter their terrain. Water carves and wears down with gentle brutality across centuries; lava blankets, burns, and freezes in time with relentless speed.

One last creation remained to be celebrated—what Etra excels at most: moulding metal. Presenting the EFESTO side table duo, made entirely of steel with a base formed from bent and welded sheet steel. Its name honors the ancient Greek god of metalworking who, legend has it, laboured under Mount Etna—the very volcano from which the lava stone of SCIARA and NYM 3.0 originates.

Previewing at SICAM 2026

The new AQUA collection is set to premiere at SICAM, held at Pordenone Exhibition Center from October 20 to 23, 2026. Exhibiting at SICAM since 2014, Etra will complement the AQUA showcase with an updated line-up of signature products, along with specialized office accessories and components—including sit-stand and tilting tables, power outlets, and cable management solutions.
